Posit Science is conducting a research study involving 16p deletion carriers and their families.
The purpose of the study is to obtain a comprehensive cognitive profile of 16p deletion carriers using a new online cognitive assessment tool we have recently constructed. The results of this study should provide the scientific community better understanding of the way in which 16p deletion carriers’ process, store, and retrieve information, and should shed light on some of the neurodevelopmental disabilities associated with this condition.
The online assessment tool created by the Posit Science team takes about 3-4 hours to complete, and can be completed entirely from home, using a unique password-protected login. The tool has been tailored to examine cognitive domains, including attention, working memory, executive function, social cognition, auditory processing speed, and visual processing speed. Altogether, the tool includes 40 short assessments, each taking between 3-7 minutes to complete. Upon completion of an assessment, results are securely transported to the Posit Science servers, where they are analyzed to try to develop a complete cognitive profile of these carriers of the 16p deletion. Results can be shared back with interested participants.
